If you have a pan without this feature fit the hole of the pan over the neck of a bottle.
The cake rose above the top edge of the pan as expected and the legs did an excellent job of supporting it when turned upside down to cool. Worked exactly as it was supposed to. But it is the first time AFAICR that Ive used a tube cake pan. Allow the cake to completely cool this way.
